Power Powder is a powerful retro roots rock band. In 2016, it kicks off a national tour that goes to more than twenty cities in China, and is invited to participate in Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival, and is awarded the best new band.
The band was formed by the beginning of 2011, and right away Power Powder was invited to be in the line-up of Midi Music Festival in Beijing. In 2012, Power Powder was awarded the best new talent by Douban. It was soon recognised by press such as INMUSIC MAG, ROCK MAGAZINE. In the same year, the band was awarded the best band in Chinese region in the Summer Sonic music festival in Japan, widely acknowledged by CREATIVE MAN President Mr. Shimizu, Bad News Records President & Founder of MAO Livehouse Mr. Chiba, Midi Festival President Mr. Zhang Fan. The band eventually as the Chinese representative participated in the Summer Sonic festival, and had a Tokyo tour.
Looking for Another Self is not only the theme of the tour in 2016, but is also the title of the brand new album. As the Power Powder’s first album, Looking for Another Self will be presented in the tour. Additionally, the band invited Self Portrait and Candy Monster that are no less powerful to throw a great gig together, bring you along on the journey of Looking for Another Self.
Beijing is the last stop of the 2016 national tour, and members of Power Powder are in great shape. The band is known for live improvisations of amazing energy. One feels the imagination and technique of every member of the band. The Rock music that has a strong Blues base, unpolished lyrics, rough tunes and unlimited rock n’ roll nature together form their original, real music, bringing the audience back to the golden time of Woodstock.
