ESTAMPA Flamenco

Estampa, the latest dance drama presented by Spanish flamenco artists Javier•meilan, Yolanda Santiago and Salva del real will be performed at 20:00 on August 30th in Yugong Yishan. It will be really pioneering for Spanish artist to perform flamenco dance drama in China’s studio theatre. Together with Cao Yuhan, the famous young violinist in China and Xie Qiong, the director and chief cello of Beijing International Chamber Orchestra, artists from both China and Spain will present a magnificent feast for Beijing audiences.

When coming to the creation of Estampa, Javier•meilan said, ‘Pure flamenco is extremely contagious. It is able to demonstrate the most original and basic emotion of all human beings incisively and vividly. Unfortunately, however, with the change of time and some non-professional broadcasting channels, many people in many areas have lots of misunderstanding of it. It hurts to face this situation thus I want to make efforts to change it. Estampa was created under this mood.’

It will be a key to open the door of flamenco and lead us to the real world of flamenco. We will be able to feel this cool romance. Only the fearless soul can play the free flamenco perfectly.
