A desperate mother and a reluctant ex-husband, despite both being happily re-married, try to conceive a baby to provide a bone-marrow transplant to save their leukemia-afflicted daughter.
Excellent performances from a strong cast and a cool, even hand from director Wang Xiaoshuai elevate a film to shed interesting new light what makes a home in the age of China’s one-child families. The film won Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival.
