Jz Festival in Beijing

YELLOWJACKETS formed originally in 1977 as the backup band for Robben Ford. In 1980 Russell Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip struck out on their own and the band as we know it today was originally formed. The Yellowjackets are one of the longest running groups in modern jazz history spanning over 31 years, 17 Grammy Nominations and two Grammy wins (’86 & ’88). In March of 2011 the group released their 21st recording entitled “Timeline”. 2012 saw a new incarnation of the Yellowjackets with the departure of Jimmy Haslip and the introduction of Felix Pastorius (son of famed bass player Jaco Pastorius) joining the band. Russ Ferrante (piano and synths), Bob Mintzer (tenor & soprano sax, bass clarinet and EWI), Will Kennedy (drums), Felix Pastorius (electric bass) will play original Yellowjackets compositions ranging stylistically from straight ahead jazz to swing and R&B.
