X is Y is a Math Rock trio based in Shanghai. They are re-arranging their folk songs in an ever-innovating Noisy and Post Rock fashion. Their first LP can be downloaded for free on http://www.xisy.fr.
The Amazing Insurance Salesmen (Winner of the 2010 Global Battle of the Bands Beijing final) is a band lead by French man Zhang Si’an, with « Free the birds » drummer Maomao from China and bass player Maikel from Holland. Their music flows between short melodic punk-rock songs and long instrumental guitar driven progressive rock improvisations sounding like David Gilmour and Carlos Santana.

Brand new 2010 Beijing-flavor post-punk outfit. Core of: Xinjiang-Hanzu guitarist/singer Shen Lijia & American multi-instrumentalist Michael Robert Winkler. Frequently joined on-stage by various members of the Beijing community. For fans of: Bloodthirsty Butchers, PK14, Dischord records. Live setting focuses on Shen’s battered taped-up guitar, with Michael Robert behind the drums alternating between driving punk rhythms and psychedelic backbeat.
