Special guests: Xiao Dong (Vj).
Even if machines, sequencers and samplers are a part of Gong Gong’s compositions, the two musicians from Nantes still essentially are a LIVE Drum n’ Bass duo, whose approach is unusual. With their first two albums (released by Laurent Garnier‘s FCOM label), this duo likes to knead, mix and crush a multitude of sounds, oscillating between electro and post-rock.
But the magic also works beyond their musical universe. On stage, two experimental technicians appear out of nowhere to build a crazy system made of paper screens, pulleys, balloons and recycled tubes, so as to build, throughout the musical performance, video skits and amazing atmospheres. Thanks to this type of creation, they were awarded, for their first concert in Beijing in June 2008, the title of the « most beautiful concert » by Mao Live House.
For their second visit to China, Gong Gong will present their new audio and visual discoveries, on the occasion of “Croisements” Festival.
Their China tour is organised by the network of Alliances Françaises in China, with the support of the City of Nantes and of the “Pays de la Loire” Region.
