Without doubt, DJ Premier is a hip-hop legend.

Well before the days of Garage Band, DJ Premier had already perfected the art of producing, practically turning any MC who dared touch a Primo track into gold. He is a magician in the studio, a wizard on the wheels of steel, an undisputed champion of hip-hop, and one of the most influential DJs/producers of all time.

A Primo beat is instantly recognizable: that clean, crisp rhythm, an addictively neck-cracking hook with, perhaps, a hint of jazz or funk, or sometimes soul, and a flawlessly assembled line of cuts and samples fused seamlessly into the track to perfectly complement the emcee or vocalist.

Premiers instrumental credits include laying down tracks for the likes of Common, KRS-ONE, Mos Def, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Dilated Peoples, Bahamadia, Mobb Deep, D’Angelo, Jay-Z, Limp Bizkit, Christina Aguilera, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, and many more. But most will know DJ Premier as the second half of pioneering hip-hop group Gang Starr a major force that defined the voice of east coast rap throughout the 1990s – may Guru rest in peace.

Traveling with DJ Premier is New Jersey native Nic Javas, who offers a range of styles that the masses can relate to and respect for the realness he spits from the heart to the speaker. This up and coming lyricist brings hip hop back to the art form that it once was.
