From an old chinese fable to one of the stories in Chairman Mao’s little red book to a small, underground live music bar in beijing owned by a chinese musician, Yugong Yishan explores the spirit of the old fool through the music different generations are fighting to play, in both the urban and rural landscapes.
Puressence are a 4 piece rock band from Manchester, England.
The band formed after all meeting at The Stone Roses legendary Spike Island concert. After a couple of indie singles the band signed to Island Records releasing three critically acclaimed albums Puressence, Only Forever & Planet Helpless..Hit singles This Feeling & All I Want drove the band’s loyal fanbase further with Greece in particular being a huge territory for the band with all their albums becoming Top 5 hits.
2007 saw the band release the album ‘Don’t Forget To Remember’ featuring Don’t Know Any Better which has topped the Greek airplay charts for
two years.The album was chosen by Itunes USA to launch their ‘Editors Choice/album of the week’ feature which drove the album into the Itunes USA top 30 album’s chart.
Debut New York shows shortly followed where singer James Mudriczki
featured alongside Leonard Cohen Dolly Parton Chrissie Hynde & Joan Baez on the Judy Collins tribute album Born To The Breed..
2009 saw Puressence play their biggest ever tour of Greece & their largest UK headline show at Manchester’s Apollo Theatre in front of 3500 people.
The year also saw the band form their own label Caserta Red releasing their fifth album Sharpen Up The Knives a compilation of their favourite Island recordings alongside three new tracks.
The band are about to begin recording their new studio album & will have a new single available in June..
